RE: 87 Honey vs 88 Bounder

What great help.
The poster asks opinions on two "Chevy Powered" RVs, a "Bounder" and a "Honey".
He gets three responses. Get the HR (2) and don't buy the one with the Ford.:?
Ya gotta love this forum.:S
I was just thinking the same thing.....:S
You just beat me to it....
Now to OP questions
This is just my opinion so please don't flame me for it....
The Bounder and Honey are both similar (IE quality, design, built) and since the drive trains are both GM I would think you would need to just look at floor plan (again both are probably similar) and then estimate your cost to rebuild each....Obviously the one without the gen will have a higher estimate to start with unless the gen in the other is toast...
Again this is JM2C but since they are so similar I would Pick the one you would want to see rebuilt for YOU.
not EVERYONE else. :B

RE: Antifreeze & Blow Lines to Winterize?

I do it similar only I don't do #4....
I leave my bypass on and the drain plug out of my Hot water tank so it is empty all winter.
I am in MI so you should be fine doing it that way in your area.
I drain the remaining anti-freeze back out of my fresh water tank...I have a drain valve on mine so it makes it easy...And then we use the antifreez we drained to dump into the toilet if use the RV during the winter.

RE: Big Three Woes?

If their is a "need" for trucks someone will build them.
May not be the big three we are use to but someone will always fill the need.
That's how the world works.....See a need and fill it.:B
Just look at the RV market....The big three (with a few exceptions and not for long) never built an RV but someone else did.

RE: Replacement mirrors?

I see the RV mirrors on E-bay from time to time.
Might be worth a look.

RE: "Set screw" to reduce slop in hitch receiver?

Their was a product to take up slack in the hitch.
I can't find it right now so I don't know if it is still made but it was slid onto the adapter before you installed it in the hitch. Then you tightened a bolt against the outside of the hitch pinching it in place.
The only problem I see with doing it as you suggested would be the possibility of burring your adapter making it difficult to remove once the bolts are removed.

RE: Non Poop Pickin-up

Best thing you could do would be when you see her doggy dumping it.
Kindly ask her if she needs a bag for that? I got one here if you don't.
They either start picking it up after that or they go someplace else...either way it's not near you anymore.
Anything else is likely to cause retaliation or have both of you asked to leave the park

RE: Is this logical?

I think the matter is more about overall quality than cost of fuel. For instance, there is about $100k worth of cabinetry in our coach, the average gasser uses vinyl covered particle board cabinets.
If you're trying to use logic to decide how to camp, then logic dictates you buy a tent...
I like your quote :B
but 100k for cabinets in a MH....:S
We redid our kitchen (much bigger than your RV I am sure) and only put about 25k into cabinets (and no they are not particle board) custom built hard wood. Hole kitchen redo materials was less than 45k with new appliances.
Sorry but I would not be bragging about that.JMO

RE: Winter concerns...Black water tank

Welcome.
Are you sure you have something in your tank....The sensors could be dirty or malfunctioning. You will have to be at a dump sight to check it out.
SO
to find a dump sight look in your phone book under camp grounds and find one close to you. Most will have a dump sight that you can use for a small fee. Also there is a Internet sight that will help you search for dump stations near you. I don't know the sights name but maybe some one else can post it for you.
Again welcome to the sight.
Happy camping
PS Just found the sight again

RE: Trailer burned to ground

In this situation call your insurance company and explain in entirety what haapened...also have in hand the name of his insurance company, phone number, and agent name if possible...give all this info to your insurance company...yes you will need to claim it on your insurance and pay the deductible but you can attempt to recoup the deductible from his insurance company (ask your insurance company how this is done)...your insurance company will then contact his insurance company for repayment of the damage
Should you not get your deductible back from his insurance company...and you wish to proceed farther to get it back you can take him to small claims court...but since he is your friend talk to him first before anything
YEP
Contact your insurance with all the info first....Insurance companies often take care of these things amongst them self....all you have to do is let them know it happened. Most often the deductible is waived.
Report it and then be patient....Don't panic....

RE: GM's 1500 truck w/4.3 V6 as a tow vehicle

Make sure you figure weight of "LOADED" trailer then stay within the rate limits of the truck. The water and other "stuff" you put in for your trip will add up. :W
As for the 4.3 V-6 when pulling....I have used the mid size Safari van with the 4.3 motor to pull my 2 horse trailer. It will not win any drag races but it keeps it going up hills and has held up well.
P.S. horse trailer about 3500lbs .Its an older metal trailer with tack room and horses around 1000lbs each.
I know please leave me alone weight police.:R
I don't do it no more.

RE: What will my insurance do

There will be a lot of things to work out. IE private property, storage lots policies and insurance, your own policy, if the hit and ran can be found, possibly even your home owners coverage.

Your agent would be best to contact.

RE: Kennel

We keep our dogs inside year round so we never did any beading out side for them but I was raised on a farm and can tell you that if it is between hay or straw.
Even though the saying is "A ROLL IN THE HAY"
STRAW is a lot more comfortable and way less expensive....Hay is very picky to lay in and cost more because it is what the animals feed on....
This Ex-Farm boy votes for straw.JMO

RE: Danger: Dog Turns on Gas Range Top

Lilli....
You push "in" to "turn" the valves...this turns on the gas on my range. Probably how the OP range works as well.
Glad to hear the counter surfing collies were not hurt.
Thanks for the tip.

RE: 03 Buick oil psi check valve??

You should have a 3.8 V-6 in that....The oil pump and valve is built in the front timing cover....Very difficult to get at and expensive to have done....Before you get into it that far have your actual oil pressure tested with a "wet" gauge. The sensor, wiring or gauge in the dash on your car could also be faulty.
Good luck

RE: Used Sprinter Van Sale?

That could depend on a lot of things.....
Main thing would be "who" owns the trucks...
FYI
I have a friend that works for UPS and the trucks are owned and maintained by UPS....Have another friend that works for Fed EX and he owns and maintains his own truck.
Don't know how DHL did it.

RE: swapping tires to lower your trailer height

Don't know how much additional room you need but airing down the tires to about 5 psi(if you are only pulling it in) might give you the room you need....Have even heard of some just using the wheels without tires if it is just to pull it through a lower bay door opening. They got extra rims to do this and did not use their road rims...
Just some other options.

RE: water pump

We never leave our pump on full time.....
We have a switch in the bathroom and one in the kitchen.....
Only place we have faucets so it is not any big inconvenience for us to turn them off and on.
I would rather be in the habit of turning it off (especially while boon docking) than to come back and find the fresh water tank empty if something does leak.JMO

RE: Camping at Wal Mart

If I were the local gov. I would require all box stores to collect a $1 deposit for the use of a cart…
If people didn’t want to return them I would do it for them…
Hey JJBIRSH
Good Idea but it's been done.
Do you have any ALDIES stores by you
The carts are not a dollar (Their 25cents) but you get your quarter back if you return the cart....Been going for years now and have only once got an extra quater back once because some one else was to lazy to return it...

RE: Has anyone replaced their noisy oven exhaust fan?

Do you have a roof vent near by the stove....We did and we had a fantastic power vent installed and use it instead....Its not as quiet as some muffin fans but it is better than the oven fan and it has worked for us.
